Inside Evergreen Chiropractic Studio A Journey from New Zealand to Fowey

Inside Fowey’s Small Businesses returns for 2026 with a new story to open the year: introducing Drs Charlotte and Tim Jack of Evergreen Chiropractic Studio, a family-run practice rooted in community, movement and natural health.

Tim and Charlotte's journey begins in Taupo, New Zealand, and winds through Australia and the Coromandel Peninsula before landing in Fowey. Tim originally planned to study medicine, but during his foundation year realised he was more interested in helping people stay well than treating disease once it had taken hold. Conversations with a flatmate who loved her work in occupational therapy, and his hometown chiropractor – a founder of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic – nudged him towards chiropractic, with its focus on supporting the body’s own ability to heal.

After completing a five-year degree in Auckland and a locum stint in Christchurch, Tim moved to Far North Queensland, where he practised for eight years and helped build a small group of four chiropractic clinics alongside a close friend and mentor, those years honed not only his clinical skills, but his understanding of how to run a values‑led practice and create calm, welcoming spaces that put people at ease.

Charlotte entered the story in serendipitous fashion: they first met at an international chiropractic students’ congress in Dallas, Texas, and then, five years later, they bumped into each other while returning bikes on Rottnest Island off the coast of Perth – and, as Tim says - "the rest is history". Charlotte later moved to Far North Queensland, initially running a home practice while Tim continued with the group clinics. Over time, her practice folded into the wider business and their professional lives blended. Charlotte took on more of the practice management and team‑training, while patients benefited from two complementary styles: her gentle, intuitive approach, especially for those under stress, and his structural, whole‑system thinking that weaves classic chiropractic with movement coaching and lifestyle support.

Tim & Charlotte's practice in New Zealand

During Covid, with borders closing and family far away, they made another bold decision. They sold their Australian home, packed up their life – two cats and a dog included – and returned to New Zealand. Buying a caravan, they spent months working as locums around the country, supporting clinics that needed cover and seeing first‑hand how different communities live, age and seek care. Eventually, they settled in Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula, a former gold‑rush town with historic Cornish links, where they bought a chiropractic practice and a fixer‑upper home, renovating both and deepening their appreciation of how colour, light and layout influence how safe and relaxed people feel in a clinic.

Today, that sensitivity to space and community shapes their life in Cornwall with Evergreen Chiropractic. Charlotte’s roots in Fowey run deep – her mum lives in the town – and after the passing of her father, the pull to be closer to family grew stronger. They kept their New Zealand practice running with a trusted team and occasional visits, but moved their daily lives to Fowey, where the sailing heritage, creative community and coastal lifestyle felt instantly familiar. The big change is scale: in New Zealand, a 50‑minute drive to the nearest sizeable town was normal; in Fowey, everything and everyone feels much closer.

Tim now practises from Fowey Lankelly Rugby Club under the Evergreen Chiropractic banner, a fitting base for his focus on movement and resilience. He works with people from all backgrounds and life stages, always starting with an unrushed conversation about what’s going on, what they hope for and what everyday life looks like. First appointments include a clear, jargon‑free assessment of posture, movement and spinal function. Aware that many arrive nervous because of social media myths about “cracking”, he demonstrates techniques, offers gentler options and reassures people that their preferences will always be respected, drawing on a wide range of methods to find the right approach for each person.

Tim & Charlotte with Baby Rupert

While Charlotte is currently centred on practice management and life with their baby son Rupert, her influence is felt throughout Evergreen – in the systems, the warm welcome and the way the practice communicates. In time, they hope people will be able to choose to work with him, with her, or with both at different stages, depending on their needs and personalities.

At the heart of Evergreen’s approach is a shared belief that health is a journey rather than a destination. Chiropractic sits alongside everyday foundations: regular movement, good sleep, managing stress and spending time in nature. Tim often encourages people to walk the South West Coast Path or swim in the sea when it’s safe, not as a rigid prescription but as an invitation to reconnect with their bodies and the place they live.

Ask what they want people to remember after a visit, and they don’t mention techniques or terminology. Instead, they talk about a feeling: being listened to, understood as a whole person, and leaving with a little more ease – in body, mind and day‑to‑day life. It’s a fitting start to Inside Fowey’s Small Business for 2026: a story about care that begins in a treatment room and quietly ripples out through a town.

It’s always inspiring to meet people whose work feels truly connected to the place they live, and Drs Tim and Charlotte Jack embody that perfectly. From their calm, seaside base in Fowey, they’re bringing a fresh, whole‑person approach to health that blends expertise with genuine warmth and community spirit.

If their story has sparked your curiosity, or you’d like to learn more about the services they offer, you can connect with them directly at Evergreen Chiropractic in Fowey.
