If you are using SatNav it will probably try to take you through the centre of Fowey – we recommend that you don’t do that as it’s extremely narrow (only 6’6” in some places).

Once you are about 1 mile outside Fowey keep your eyes open for a road sign for ‘Looe via Bodinnick Ferry’ follow directions for the Boddinick Ferry, this road is Passage Lane – the road is narrow in places, so be careful to keep an eye out for oncoming traffic and be prepared to reverse if you need to. Follow that all the way down to Fowey (satnav may continue to try to redirect you with a right turn, ignore it).

You will pass a car park on the left at the bottom of the hill ‘Old Station Car Park’ … you’re nearly there!

Just before you get to Caffa Mill Car Park you will see Old Station Master’s House on the left (if you get to Caffa Mill car park you’ve gone too far!)

If you do go through Fowey town centre …

Once you have navigated through the narrow streets you will get to Caffa Mill Car Park – Old Station Master’s House is just after the car park on the right.

If you arrive via the Bodinnick Ferry - once you come off the ferry, turn right onto Station Road and after about 20 ft you will see the entrance to Old Station Master’s House.

General information about the apartment

PARKING: When you arrive, you may find a chain across the car park - it has a padlock on the left side, but the right side just unclips. The chain is there to deter people from parking in your precious parking space!

There is allocated parking in front of Old Station Master’s House. Your space is marked 5. As you face the building it is to the right of the steps

Please park considerately and within the markings. Parking is a rarity in Fowey, and guests are asked to only park within their allocated space.

WiFi: The Wifi code in 5 Old Station Master’s House is

Network Name: EE

Password:pfgkxbX9JdJcDYec

NEIGHBOURS: Please be mindful that we have neighbours below us in the apartment.

EQUIPMENT: Please do not leave any of your personal possessions, prams/buggies or outdoor equipment in the hallways, garden or landings.

The apartment is strictly NO SMOKING

APPLIANCES: There is a box file in the wardrobe in the bedroom with operating manuals for the appliances.

Special note about the hob: the hob is an induction hob which requires a pan to be on the ring for it to work. To operate the hob, press the power button on the left (circle) and then press the ring you want to heat up (cross).

DIRECTIONS TO TOWN: When you come out of the main building, turn left to go into Fowey town. It should take around 10-15 mins to walk (depending on how quickly you walk, or how many times you stop to admire the views).

AMAZON ECHO: There are Amazon Echo units in the living room and bedrooms – you can use these to listen to radio – or just to ask for the weather forecast or random facts!

VELUX WINDOWS: There are velux windows in the living room and bedrooms. These are controlled via a panel which is in the living room, beside the intercom.

The blinds in the main bedroom are also controlled via this control (NOTE: The blinds in the second bedroom are NOT controlled by the panel - you can simply slide them up and down)

To operate the controls, tap the little house symbol and then scroll across to the room you’d like to adjust. Please note that there are rain sensors on the windows and they won’t open if it is raining.

Please keep the control in its cradle, and handle it carefully. We would ask that children are discouraged from using the controls or ‘playing’ with the windows.

RUBBISH: There are bins in the bin store in Old Station Master’s Car Park (fenced area). Your general rubbish must be put in black bags and tied carefully before placing them in the rubbish skips.

Inside the apartment there is a waste separating bin – the top section should be used with a bin bag for non-recyclable waste and the bottom can be used for clean recycling. Outside there are bins for non-recyclable waste, mixed recycling and glass.

GAS CENTRAL HEATING: There is underfloor heating provided by gas boiler which is in the utility cupboard by the front door.

There are thermostats in each room and you can increase the temperature by turning them up, underfloor heating is designed to keep the home at a constant temperature, so we usually leave the heating on at all times and control the temperature using the thermostats - it may be worth turning the thermostat in the main room down a little during the night.

Underfloor heating remains on until temp is met – please be aware that underfloor heating takes a little longer to come up to temp than wall mounted radiators.

We recommend keeping the main bedroom thermometer very low (below 15C) as the pipes are below the bed and it can become very warm!

HOT WATER BY BOILER: Water is heated via a combi boiler (heats on demand). If the water is too warm it may be because the dial on the boiler has been turned up - you can simply turn it down a little

ELECTRIC TOWEL RAIL IN THE BATHROOM: The towel rail in the bathroom is electric and can be turned on and off using the switch in the hall under the mirror unit - please DO NOT leave it on when you aren't in the property.

Please be mindful that this is an expensive appliance to operate and should be used sparingly

When it's time to leave

When you leave, please do not leave ANY food in the kitchen. All rubbish should be placed in the bins outside.

IMPORTANT! Fire Plan

FIRE DETECTION AND WARNING SYSTEM: There are two smoke alarms.

FIRE ALARM TEST: Is done weekly – usually on a Monday (but this may change week to week)

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS: There is a fire extinguisher in the hall and also on the landing immediately outside the front door.

FIRE BLANKET: There is a fire blanket in the kitchen.

EMERGENCY LIGHTING: There is a torch in drawer in the hall

EXIT ROUTE: Emergency exit -  Main apartment door and down the communal stairs and exit left or right

GATHERING POINT: Parking Area

Note: The apartment is located on the first floor and can only be accessed via stairs. For safety reasons, in the event of an emergency, guests must be able to evacuate independently on foot without assistance. This may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues.
